Store Manager 

Join our passionate Retail team at the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) as a Store Manager and help drive meaningful impact in the community.

Location: Burnley, Richmond 

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time working 38 hours per week - Tuesday to Saturday (8.55am -5.11pm)

Salary: Up to $61,821.55, based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation

About the role:

The Store Manager leads the team and provides day-to-day guidance and support. They oversee all store operations to ensure everything runs efficiently. This role is key to delivering strong financial results and an exceptional customer experience.

  • Lead store operations and team performance: Supervise, coach, and support staff and volunteers to ensure efficient daily operations, excellent customer service, and achievement of sales targets.

  • Deliver exceptional customer and donor experience: Model respectful and inclusive service, ensuring all customers and donors are greeted, assisted, and acknowledged in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Manage stock control and visual merchandising: Oversee sorting, pricing, presentation, and rotation of donated goods to maximise revenue, while ensuring merchandising plans and safety procedures are followed.

  • Maintain compliance and safety standards: Ensure store operations align with BSL policies, including health, safety, risk management, COVID-safe practices, and accurate record-keeping.

  • Drive continuous improvement and community engagement: Encourage innovation, upskilling, and collaboration within the team, while building connections with the local community and supporting BSL’s mission and values.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Proven leadership and team support: Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, mentor and support staff and volunteers in a retail environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Able to build effective relationships across diverse groups and communicate clearly at all levels.

  • Well-developed organisational and problem-solving abilities: Skilled in managing time, prioritising tasks, making informed decisions, and resolving issues effectively.

  • Retail knowledge and technical skills: Experience in visual merchandising, recycled goods, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Retail Certificate III or higher preferred.

  • Commitment to values and safety: Demonstrated understanding of and alignment with BSL’s values, including child safety, equity, inclusion, and cultural safety.
