Retail Assistant – Moonee Ponds

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Retail Assistant to join our dedicated Social Enterprises team.

Location: Moonee Ponds
Job Type: Permanent Part-Time (30.4 hours a week) 
Salary: Up to $54,315.25 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role
The Retail Assistant is responsible for general store duties under the guidance of the Store Manager, working alongside volunteers and supporting the overall retail operation of the store.

• Provide courteous and professional customer service, sales and merchandising
• Ensure donations are sorted and displayed to Social Enterprise retail standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in store and back-of-house areas
• Assist in the handling and movement of goods using safe manual handling practices
• Support volunteer training under the direction of the Store Manager

• Previous retail experience (preferably in recycled goods, but not essential)
• Strong customer service focus and professional manner
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse communities
• Physically fit, able to lift heavy items, bend and stand for long periods
• Empathy with the values and ideals of BSL
