We work in eight communities across Australia, demonstrating how community voices can come together to create change at a local level and impact national policy and practice.

This position will be responsible for building and convening two key advisory groups for the NYEB: the Youth Advisory Board and the National Employer Reference Group. In collaboration with the NYEB Leadership Team and other relevant team members across the BSL, this role will ensure that the voice and needs of young people and employers are integrated into all NYEB activities, and that NYEB partners receive input from the advisory groups. The role will develop and refine the scope, membership and function of these advisory groups and will manage their establishment and ongoing activities, as well as drawing insights and recommendations from across the NYEB alliance and the Youth and Employer advisory groups to advise on the design and direction of NYEB activities.

This role will involve actively supporting the capability-building and training of our partners and network, and working directly with the NYEB Leadership Team, partner organisations, industry, government and frontline service delivery practitioners, as well as young people with a range of lived experiences, in the ongoing implementation and development of the NYEB model.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the NYEB leadership team in the development of the design, strategy and model for the Youth Advisory Board and National Employer Reference Groups as established governance groups of the National Youth Employment Body (NYEB)
  • Lead the logistics of the Youth and Employer advisory group meetings, including working with members and other stakeholders to build agendas, coordinating meeting times and group roles, recording minutes and providing follow-up where appropriate.
  • Create and manage effective communication mechanisms for insights arising between the advisory groups and the NYEB network
  • Use an Advantaged Thinking practice approach to build a strong foundation for collaborative action
  • In collaboration with the Practice and Service Development teams lead the recruitment, onboarding, and on-the-job support of NYEB Youth Advisors
  • Coordinate and facilitate National Employer Reference Group meetings and activities to ensure that diverse employer perspectives from across the NYEB are represented and elevated across the network
  • Use the unique position as coordinator of advisory groups of two key stakeholder groups of the NYEB to highlight shared challenges and misalignments, and use these insights to inform practice and advocacy across the NYEB’s activities
  • Work closely with the Communications Lead to develop and disseminate communication materials relating to youth employment
