Community Support Worker
We’re looking for professional Community Support Workers with relevant experience who wants to join our team of 1500 employees and 1000 volunteers to make a difference on a permanent part-time or casual basis, working 4 days a week based in Carrum Downs.

THE ROLE
The Community Support Worker works as part of a team to support and assist people with dementia, disabilities, socially isolated and older people to participate and engage in community life. At the Brotherhood the first responsibilities of care are to enable consumers to flourish. Our model of service is based on the Enhancing Capabilities Approach which is to ensure that our clients live in a trusting environment that provides the opportunities and choices that enable them to live lives they have reason to value.
- Provide care and support as identified in the client’s Care Plan. Care and support may include respite, household tasks, dressing and undressing, grooming, toileting, accompanied personal shopping, and meal preparation.
- Actively support and promote wellness and reablement goals
- Support carers by providing meaningful and enjoyable experiences to a client to promote social connectedness and encourage physical activity as documented in the Care Plan.
Salary will be $31.37 to $34.23 per hour for casuals plus 25% casual loading OR in the range of $61,985.52 to $67,631.28 pro rata per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for an Community Support Worker who has the following key skills and experiences:
- Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Individual support or Aged Care or equivalent
- Experience/training in working with/assisting older people, people with disabilities and/or dementia demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of people from different economic and diverse backgrounds
- Proven ability to work independently and as an effective team member to achieve objectives
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people across all levels both internally and externally
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills including the ability to plain workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Current Victorian Driver’s License and an ability to drive a mini bus
- Experience in developing, organising, facilitating and evaluating inclusive community, recreation and leisure activities
- Hold a valid food handling certificate of willingness to obtain one within the first few month of employment
