Community Support Worker - Centre Based

We’re looking for a professional Community Support Worker with relevant experience who wants to join our team of 1500 employees and 1000 volunteers to make a difference on a Casual basis, working based in our Coolibah Day Centre Brunswick

 

Location: Brunswick- Coolibah Centre

Job Type: Casual

Salary: $68,171.76 - $74,381.05 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation.

About the role

The Community Support Worker- Centre-Based provides centre and community-based social support to aged individuals who require support to live independently, and their carers. Social support services promote a wellness and reablement approach to care, through the delivery of meaningful and enjoyable experiences to a client that promotes social connectedness and encourages physical activity.

Core Duties

  • Deliver care and support for clients, in line with Care Plans; as part of Social Connections this can include but is not limited to respite, dressing and undressing, grooming and toileting.
  • Actively support and promote client wellness and reablement goals, including facilitating engaging group activities
  • Support carers by providing meaningful and enjoyable experiences to a client, that meet the needs of the client as documented in the Care Plan.
  • Apply the Consumer Directed Care and wellness and reablement approaches and be guided by the Consumer Choice principles.
  • Prepare and serve light meals in line with food handling legislation.
  • This position will require indirect contact with children and direct contact with vulnerable individuals
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure steps are taken to prevent unsafe work practices in accordance with BSL policies and procedures. 
  • Other duties as required

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of and ability to participate in quality improvement activities and strategies
  • Experience in developing, organising, facilitating, and evaluating inclusive community, recreation and leisure activities, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of local area and services, and ability to utilise community groups and resources
  • Able to speak Mandarin and Cantonese
