Senior Project Manager - Property

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Senior Project Manager - Property to join our dedicated Property & Facilities Management Team

Join the Brotherhood of St Laurence and help deliver property projects that enable an Australia free of poverty. As Senior Project Manager – Property, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of complex, organisation-wide capital works and strategic property initiatives—driving governance, budgets, risk, stakeholder engagement and reporting through to successful outcomes. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll shape and prioritise a portfolio aligned to BSL’s Property Strategy and Strategy 2030, ensuring fit-for-purpose, compliant and value-for-money facilities. Location: Fitzroy & Hybrid 

Job Type: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract working 38 hours per week

Salary: $120,000 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation.

About the role

The Senior Project Manager - Property is responsible for ensuring that all projects are aligned with the organisation’s Property Strategy and strategic objectives, particularly Strategy 2030. This role involves collaborating with senior stakeholders to identify, select, and prioritise projects that contribute to the overall Property Strategy implementation plan.

In addition, the Senior Project Manager – Property is accountable for delivering projects through standardised processes, including consistent progress reporting and alignment with key strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring project budgets, timelines, risks, and quality measures, ensuring successful completion and outcomes.

As Senior Project Manager, you will provide expertise in the delivery of program or works and applying best practice project management methodologies to support services, operational, and strategic goals. 

The role demands a high standard of governance, documentation, and reporting, while fostering a collaborative culture of trust and continuous improvement.

A critical aspect of the role is shaping project outcomes through robust planning, structured delivery approaches, and alignment with organisational priorities. The Project Manager will promote innovation, sustainability, and evidence-based decision making to ensure each project delivers lasting value.

What we are looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • 10+ years’ client-side delivery of large, complex property/capital works projects (end-to-end: initiation to post-go-live/hypercare).
  • Proven project governance capability: planning, documentation, progress reporting, and change management aligned to organisational strategy.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills—able to advise project sponsors and decision makers, and work effectively with internal leaders and external vendors/consultants.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, including scope, sequencing, dependencies, resourcing, and schedules.
  • Budget development and control, including tracking, contingency management, and financial reporting.
  • Risk, issue, and change control: maintain logs, anticipate delivery risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve complex project, contractual, and management matters.
  • Experience in large, multifaceted organisations (e.g., government, health, services, or institutional property portfolios).
  • Strong analytical, organisational, written and verbal communication skills; able to work within structured PMO environments (e.g., SPMO reporting).
  • Tools/qualifications: advanced Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office; tertiary/vocational qualification in engineering, construction, project management, asset management or related; PRINCE2/ITIL (or similar) desirable.
