At The David Scott School, we are seeking a passionate Learning Support Educator to join our dedicated Student Support team.
Location: Frankston
Job Type: Max Term - Part Time for 6 months (30.4 hours a week)
Salary: $63,096-$72,460, based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation. (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role:
The Learning Support Officer assists teachers with classroom activities and supports students in their learning. They help deliver programs like literacy and numeracy interventions and supervise students during lessons and school activities.

Assist teachers with the daily management of classroom activities to ensure smooth lesson delivery and student engagement.

Support the implementation of tailored educational programs that help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Deliver targeted support in literacy and numeracy interventions to enhance foundational skills for individual students and small groups.

Supervise and guide students during lessons, group work, and structured school activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Participate in a range of school programs, including electives, excursions, and incursions, providing additional support where required.

The School vision is to ensure that all young people receive a high quality education that empowers them to reach their potential and equips them for a good life.
The School delivers an integrated education program to meet the literacy, numeracy, work related and personal development needs of young people (aged 15-20) in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region who are unable to participate in mainstream schooling.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual who is passionate about supporting young people in their education journey and contributing to the inclusive, student-centred mission of the David Scott School.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

Qualifications: Minimum Certificate or Diploma in Education Support is required; relevant tertiary qualifications in education or special needs (desirable), and a current Victorian Driver’s Licence is preferred.

Educational Knowledge: Strong understanding of educational instruction principles and the ability to apply them to support diverse student learning needs, including interpreting and applying Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).

Student Support Expertise: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with vulnerable or challenging young people using a strengths-based approach, with a focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes.

Skills and Adaptability: Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing environments with resilience.

Commitment to Inclusion: A demonstrated commitment to child safety, equity, inclusion, and cultural awareness, aligned with the values and mission of the Brotherhood of St. Laurence.
