We are seeking a professional Enterprise Risk Manager with relevant experience to join our team of 1,500 employees and 1,000 volunteers. You will ideally be an enthusiastic, mid-to-high-level enterprise risk practitioner who is motivated to further develop your risk management career. This role is permanent, 5 days per week, and is based in Fitzroy with hybrid (partial work-from-home) working arrangements available.

THE ROLE

This Enterprise Risk Management role, reporting into the Senior Enterprise Risk Lead who heads up BSL's enterprise risk function, is pivotal within the Brotherhood of St Laurence and will help to drive, manage, further develop and support the continuous improvement of BSL’s risk management processes and systems. The role will ensure effective design and implementation of enterprise risk processes including risk assessments, processes and compliance with related policies, procedures and frameworks. The Risk Manager will provide direct support to the Senior Enterprise Risk Lead and BSL management/staff to support the embedding of risk management across the organisation. At times, the Risk Manager will be expected to act for the Senior Enterprise Risk Lead.

You will bring extensive experience with enterprise risk to uplift capability of current processes. Working closely with key stakeholders from Chief and senior Manager level through to operational staff, you will need to establish strong working relationships to ensure BSL's risk management processes are well understood and implemented. With the guidance and support of the Senior Enterprise Risk Lead you will:

  • Work directly with the executive and their teams to define and implement risk management practices.
  • Drive a meaningful risk culture into all facets of BSL programs, services and operations.
  • Potentially refine as needed, an Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Policy that enables cohesive enterprise risk management practices.
  • Work with managers to assess the degree of risk across the organisation by considering potential impacts to BSL operations and strategic objectives.
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders to identify and manage risks and develop appropriate risk treatment action plans where potential risks exist or have been identified.
  • Develop risk management reports for all audience levels from Board to Executive and operational.

Salary will be up to $120,000 plus superannuation, plus salary packaging, based on skills and experience.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for someone who has the following key skills, experiences and motivations:

  • Experienced and enthusiastic mid-to-high-career-level enterprise risk professional who is motivated to further develop their risk management career
  • Experience in working with Boards and Board nominated Risk Committees (ideally), executives and senior management to establish, design, review, implement and continuously improve enterprise risk management practices
  • Experience developing clear and succinct reports for Board, Sub-committees and management stakeholder groups as needed
  • Proven experience in managing the design and implementation of a substantial and complex enterprise risk change management agenda, and within the context of a matrix managed organisation where direct reports/staff cannot be directly leveraged (‘managing through others’).
  • Proven experience in designing, developing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks and policies, and associated systems and procedures.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering risk management training.
  • Advanced computer literacy including demonstrated knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and Risk Management software.
